On July 25, 2017, TCI-TARINA, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), and the NIAP jointly organized a seminar, titled “Redesigning food policy for nutrition security: Emerging contours.“ Dr. Prabhu Pingali, Director of TCI, opened the seminar with a lecture based on his publication “The bumpy road from food to nutrition security – Slow evolution of India’s food policy.” Panelists included Mr. Amaresh Kumar, Director of the Institute of Food Security (Food Corporation of India, FCI), and Dr. Pratap S. Birthal, National Professor at NIAP. The lecture was followed by a discussion around crop-neutral policy and challenges related to public procurement and storage of diverse agricultural commodities.
