TCI to Launch ‘Transforming Food Systems’ Book in India

The Tata-Cornell Institute for Agriculture and Nutrition (TCI), in collaboration with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), will hold a book launch of “Transforming Food Systems for a Rising India” on January 17 at 5 p.m. IST at the India International Centre in New Delhi.

Written by TCI director Prabhu Pingali, assistant director Mathew Abraham, and post-doctoral associates Anaka Aiyar and Andaleeb Rahman, the book explores various challenges and opportunities to achieve a nutrition-secure future in India through diversified production systems, improved health and hygiene environment and greater individual capability to access a balanced diet contributing to an increase in overall productivity..

The event will feature a panel discussion with Shahidur Rashid, director of IFPRI South Asia, Purvi Mehta, senior advisor and head of agriculture for Asia at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; and Peter Carberry, director general of ICRISAT.
