“The State of Farmer Producer Organizations in India: Performance, Trends, and the Role of Gender” answers critical questions about the ecosystem of farmer producer organizations (FPOs) in India, including national, state, and district-level FPO promotion and survival rates; FPO governance; and financial performance based on a range of metrics, including gender leadership, size, crops produced, activities engaged in, and state and district location.
With a special focus on women-led FPOs, “The State of FPOs in India” provides a quantitative exploration of how gender leadership affects outcomes. The report also includes six detailed case studies of women’s self-help groups that launched FPOs, offering a qualitative exploration of how such groups transition to FPOs.
