Dr. Anna David Thottappilly
Anna David Thottappilly earned her PhD in applied economics and management in 2023. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Economic Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Her research centers on the intersection of agriculture and nutrition. She is also interested in other development issues, such as education outcomes and weather impacts, particularly as they affect rural farming households. She focuses on policy-oriented research that could aid social mobility and bridge the inequality gap. Prior to joining Cornell, she worked as an assistant professor of economics at Jesus & Mary College, University of Delhi. Anna graduated with third rank in the economic studies and planning master’s program from Jawaharlal Nehru University. As part of her MPhil dissertation, she analyzed how intellectual property rights in Indian agricultural markets could affect farmers as India was working to adhere to WTO requirements. She received her undergraduate degree from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi.
